The Pistons are breaking out a new altnernate jersey for this upcoming season. Instead of the jersey reading “Pistons” or “Detroit,” this new alternate will have “Motor City” across the chest. See for yourself.
Much like the Pistons home and road jersey, this new alternate is perfectly boring and mediocre in every way. Royal Blue and Red? Good luck finding a less interesting color combo. The font? I challenge you to find a more boring font in the NBA.
And while I’m complaining, the Pistons need a complete overhaul of their current jersey set. They desperately need an upgraded logo, a new chromatic scheme, and please get rid of that comic sans looking font. I’m not suggesting something crazy, like when they embraced the 90s teal revolution.
And I’m suggesting something as ridiculous as these alternates they wore to offset the vomit inducing teal.
Is that maroon? I can’t even tell. The Pistons, since their inception, have always worn a shade of blue and red. I’m okay with keeping with that, but there are ways to modernize it. What about a baby or powder blue and red? Harkens back to those Houston Oilers jerseys. It would be a unique color pallet for the team. Get a new font, but nothing too flashy, and you have some awesome jerseys.
Just an idea.
