Junior Seau Commits Suicide

Junior Seau has comitted suicide.

According to TMZ, former San Diego Chargers linebacker Junior Seau was found dead in his Oceanside home and law enforcement source at the scene tells reporters that police believe the gun shot wound was self inflicted.

Seau was 43 years old and last played in the NFL for the New England Patriots after establishing himself as a Hall of Fame Candidate playing for the San Diego Chargers. Seau will be eligible for enshrinement in 2014.

We will update this post as more information becomes available.

UPDATE: Police have confirmed that Seau has passed away and they are investigating a self inflicted gunshot wound to the chest.

TMZ thinks so, but can’t confirm it, but is going to report it anyway.

Shot himself the same way Duerson did so they could examine his brain. The NFL is in a real bind with the brain injury lawsuits that are coming.

Police Chief Frank McCoy said Seau’s girlfriend reported finding him unconscious with a gunshot wound to the chest and lifesaving efforts were unsuccessful. A gun was found near him, McCoy said.

From the AP article. Usually when people kill themselves it is a shot to the head since it is faster. So I just assume that he was copying Duerson but that is just me speculating. I didn’t read anything about a suicide note.

A tip for the kids out there. If you’re gonna shoot yourself in the head, you’d better do it right. Mrs Groin has taken care of several patients over the years who have shot their faces off and survived. Your quality of life will be pretty low if you’re nothing more than a neck with a feeding tube from the shoulders up.
