TVF Cartoonology National Title Game

April 2, 2012
By

After 3 grueling weeks of competition, we have reached our championship round in Cartoonology. For the first time ever, we have a double-digit seed reaching the Championship, and oh the irony involved.

#1 overall seed Bugs Bunny is taking on his most difficult foe, Marvin the Martian, a lowly 14th seed from outerspace.  How fitting that these decades-long foes would meet up in the championship?  The seedings are thrown out by now…Bugs vs. Marvin is a classic old school rivalry.

1. Bugs Bunny vs 14 Marvin the Martian

Marvin the Martian. The inimitable little guy with the funny voice and questionable sexual orientation (by 1960′s standards), hell bent on destroying the Earth. I can’t remember him ever getting the best of Bugs – maybe this is his last chance.

Bugs Bunny. Perhaps the most immediately recognized cartoon character of all-time. One of the rare characters in this bracket that wasn’t a rip-off or repackaging of a different cartoon character. The original Looney Toon.

I can’t believe I’m actually excited about the outcome of this vote.

    Bugs.

Marvin was a bit player in this “rivalry”. Bugs delivered week in and week out.

Rabbit of Seville. Elmer sprouts flowers out of his scalp.

Hillbilly Hare. He gets the 2 (obviously Tennesseean) hillbillies to beat the crap out of each other.

What’ Opera Doc? “Kill the wabbit!”

    Wet Hare. Blacque Jacque Shellacque!

He went up against (and bested) everyone: Elmer Fudd, Yosemite Sam, Marvin, Daffy, Porky, Tasmanian Devil, Wile E. Coyote, Foghorn and many more.

He got equal “billing” in Roger Rabbit with the actual most recognized cartoon character in the world, Mickey Mouse.

As the original seeding indicates, this is a no-brainer.

it was a nice run for Marvin, but I see Bugs winning this one in a landslide.

Much like the cartoon itself, Marvin will once again be bested by Bugs.

I haven’t seen someone with a broom on their head getting beaten this badly since January 1, 2011.

My choice for Post of the Year.
