All-Pro cornerback for the New York Jets, Darrell Revis, was interviewed on ESPN earlier today, and when he played a little word association, he let out an answer that many probably didn’t expect but aren’t too surprised by.
The words given to him were “locker room.” His response after a short pause was, “Disarray right now.”
Not much more was said on that topic, though he did try to explain the dissension that arose with wide receiver Santonio Holmes late in the year.
“People were just trying to find ways to win. Santonio wanted the ball. It wasn’t negative, I think he wanted to be the guy who wins games for us. And then it blew up out of proportion and then it was Santonio is not siding with Mark, and it just blew out of proportion. And then [then-offensive coordinator Brian] Schotteheimer was in the mix of it too with the play-calling.”
This is just something that the Jets players are going to have to deal with, especially when you have several anonymous players spouting off to to the media about problems within the organization that make it appear as if they are a team divided. There were those that showed lack of faith (understandably) in Mark Sanchez, and now some that feel the same about Tim Tebow (understandably). But that’s just a weaksauce to hide behind words without your name out there. At least Revis was man enough to say that things aren’t exactly right for the Jets.
At least one of the Jets corners can stand on their words. Looking at you, Anotonio Cromartie.
