I already miss the NBA… and so does my dog

June 14, 2011
By

* Shameless cutesy animal-related post *

I am very upfront about my fan affiliations.  I think everyone here knows me as a sports fans first and foremost, followed closely by a fandom for just about any and everything related to the City of Boston.  I follow professional baseball, football, hockey and basketball, in that order.  Nothing against the NBA, sometimes it’s just hard to watch 48 minutes of grown men bitching to referees, and even harder to watch it knowing that 50% of those refs are likely on the take.

But apparently, my negative attitude towards the NBA hasn’t rubbed off on my dog, Tucker.  He’s 13 years old, arthritic as all hell, probably moves as well as Shaq, and he’s started to become very vocal.  Today, I took him out into the yard and he immediately ran over to a basketball that he hasn’t played with for more than ten minutes in over three years.  I think he knows there’s a lockout coming… and he isn’t very happy about it.

So take heed David Stern.  If there isn’t NBA basketball next season, you’re going to have a lot of very pissed off fans.  And probably one pissed off dog.

Tucker misses the NBA

Your dog’s shifty eye is scaring me.

The NBA has got to avert a lockout somehow, too much momentum for them right now.

The players would have to cave as the owners are evidently losing too much money

They won’t cave until they start missing paychecks.

I’ll go as far to say there won’t be a season.

Wouldn’t that mean that Dwight played his last game for the magic then?

    /too mean?

You said Dwight would sign that short term extension, so this prediction actually gives me hope.

No. I said reports had Dwight signing an extension, which he decided not to sign yesterday…

I’ve got it from a VERY good source that Stern is prepared to sit out the season. The owners will “allegedly” save money by doing so.

Dude they opened the books and lost 300 million. Of course they’ll save money by not having a season

I am with you. I watch the NBA mainly during the playoffs. As long as there is college ball, I won’t miss it.

But I hear the league is super popular or something, so they’ve got that going for them, which is nice.

Miz, you never answered my post this morning (actually Pat did for you).
In your new Avatar photo, what kind of bike do you have?

  19. Mark Mizerle06 on June 14, 2011 at 4:57 pm

dan – it’s not a picture of me…just a picture I found funny and decided to use it as my avatar. I’m not sure what type of bike it is either since I can’t find the original full sized picture anymore.

Oh Pat was wrong! (see the morning after comments)

On another note, I have seen funnier pictures.

I have been trying to change my Avatar but can’t log into wordpress and they won’t send me a new password. Not sure why.
