Wow. It’s already the 19th Day of June. This month has flown by way too fast. Before you know it it will be 4th of July, then the end of summer, and the FOOTBALL SEASON! I know I’ve already don the “FOOTBALL SEASON” thing in TMA, but it’s FOOTBALL SEASON!
Also the new iPhone comes out today. I’m thinking about getting it, but I’m really not all about lines. I can barely wait 5 minutes for an elevator at work…
Futbol First! Team USA laid another egg against the Duke Blue Devils of the world in Brazil. after two early goals the Brazilians put the dagger in the US with a 3rd goal about midway through the second half. This has got to have American Soccer officials concerned. Was Bruce Arena THAT good of a coach? Sure the steam sputtered in the last World Cup, but they tied the eventual champion Italians down one man most the match…About 16 years ago US Soccer made it a goal to win a World Cup by 2010…easily…NOT HAPPENING.
The United States Open Golf Championship was set back almost an entire day because the great flood on Long Island. The normally beautiful greens and fairways of Bethpage Black looked more like the Looney Flume at Wet N’ Wild. The schedule the USGA has proposed?
- Friday -1st round tees off at 7 with a shotgun start. Finishes around 2, which will allow the second round to start at 4 and go until play called.
- Saturday – Finish second round, make cuts, and start 3rd that afternoon.
- Sunday – Finish 3rd, Start 4th that afternoon.
Congrats to this year’s Mr. Irrelavant, Ryan Succup, who is so irrelavant, he’s worth $1.2 Million over 3 years.
TRUE ESPN HEADLINE: “Prosecutor opposes early release for Clarett”…I’ve been in this game for 2 years professionally and a couple years in school as a clerk. I have NEVER EVER seen a prosecutor agree to the following:
- To have mercy on the client without a bad case
- To agree to a better plea because he’s very very sorry.
- Agree to early termination of a person’s probation
- Agree to reduce/give a bond for anyone
- Agree an accused person MIGHT be innocent of anything
- Agree to release someone they got sentenced to prision to be released early.
Now that thats out of the way…NO SHIT! That is why it’s in the hands of the judge/parole board.
Speaking of which, the NFL said screw you to the Florida legal system and has given Dante Stallworth an indefinite suspension. Rumor has it, it probably means all of 2009.
Alex Ovechkin is your NHL MVP…woo woo
Keep blaming the bloggers! Raul Ibanez is now the DL…and so is our favorite injury plagued pitcher Dontrelle Willis, ANXIETY!You remember when the NBA put guys on the DL for cracked teeth? This is up there with it. (Although if true it’s no laughing matter)
It looks like Nadal will get a chance to defend his Wimbledon Championship. I’m not a huge tennis guy, but that match between him and Federer last year was excellent.
PEDs…ha – Me
Sorry Bobby, looks like your going to be a couple behind Joe Paterno…Unless Penn State is due for an 0-12 season. Ya I agree. Not likely. Then again, looking at the NCAA report itself, FSU is lucky they didn’t get hit worse.
Sadly, it doesn’t look like Raffy Nadal will be able to defend his Wimbledon Championship. I am not much of a tennis fan, but last year’s championship match was about as exciting as it gets. (Although Wimbledon did give him a tough draw this morning)
Paul Pierce felt the need to let everyone know from Twitter that he thinks the Orlando Magic suck. You know who talks smack after losing a series that is long over? Losers.
The Orlando Sentinel is reporting that the University of Florida has self reported two minor NCAA violations for improper contact with a recruit. One in 2008 and one in 2009…For this reason and this reason alone, I’ll leave out the LANE KIFFIN NEWS!!! today…
Have a great weekend, and if you’re lucky enough to live in Florida, after jogging 4 miles this AM, I can personally tell ya. It’s like a suana out there, bundle up.
